The term gang is something that causes fear in the hearts of many; all they think about is poorly dressed young people with drug habits who terrorize neighborhoods. But there is more to gangs than violent behavior; you see the thing is the term refers to a group of close individuals or friends who have a common interest. The common interest doesn't necessarily have to be drugs and violence; it can sometimes be something positive like hammocking.

What I am telling you here is it is possible to share your favorite pastime with others, look at it this way, what is better that sitting on your hammock surrounded by friends at the beach while sipping on a beverage of your choice? Sure you can do that alone, but it won't be as fun as being in a group. If you are in college or school, you can start a hammock club, recruit people in high school or college is not that difficult. However, if are done with college, you will have to put some work into it.

Start small

All things start somewhere, unless you are very popular you can't launch a club today and expect two hundred people to show up on the first day (that can only happen if there's free alcohol involved). The best place to start is with your close friends or families, just chill out do stuff and have them spread the word to others who may be interested.

Think of it like peer to peer marketing, where one person is invited and in return he or she invites another and so on.

Make it exclusive

According to psychology people like what they can't have, what you have to do is get them think that they can't be part of it: doing this will make them want to join. Why? Imagination, you see the thing is reality can never live up to the vision. What you can do is build a strong social media presence that will make people imagine the amount of fun you are having, here you can come up with combined selection criteria that you don't use.

Your target audience will want to be part of your group, but don't make the mistake of setting your requirements too high. Remember what happened to "dawn of justice"? The expectations were too high.

Dictatorships don't work; therefore the best thing to do is share power. When you start getting numbers, you should allocate responsibilities and define roles for different people in the group. The idea is to plan your group into an organized system that works.
