Hammocks vs. Tents

Why hammocks are better than tents

Traditionally when you go camping you carry a tent, this means that most people assume that camping is all about tents. Now I'm not saying that tents are bad what I'm saying is hammocks are better, why? The first thing you will notice about a tent is that it tend to be bulky and heavy, this makes it a major inconvenience that can cause back problems and exhaustion.

Another major issue with tents is you will need lots of room especially if you are going to a group if you pick hammocks you won't need too much room to hang it (all you need are two points to hang it). You may be thinking that there is no guarantee that you will find a good spot to hang your hammock.

That is true but there are hammock stands that will allow you to hang your hammock anywhere, for instance, five people can hang their hammock on one tree or a post at the same time and not on top of each other. This is done by tying one end of your hammock to the tree and the other to a hammock stand.

As an added advantage, you will have minimal impact on the environment, look at it this way, you won't have to cut down anything or clear the grounds for your tent.

Sleeping in a hammock is better than sleeping on the ground

The awesome thing about hammocks is they swing, the advantage this has is that you will enjoy deeper sleep just like a baby. Ever wonder why babies fall asleep when gently rocked? think of it as a rocking chair for adults. Sleeping in a tent means sleeping on the cold hard ground, this is bad because it can result in you waking up tired or with unexplained pain.

You see the thing is there is no guarantee that you will find flat soft grounds for you to sleep comfortably on in a tent, with hammocks, on the other hand, you are literally sleeping in the air.

Setup

Setting up tents requires skill, experience and sometimes a manual. Setting up a hammock is easy; all you need to know is how to tie a knot and how to wrap a strap around a tree. Sometimes you don't even have to know how to tie knots, setting up a tent, on the other hand, can be difficult especially if you are new to it.

The only thing that you need to know about hanging a hammock is you should never tie it too loose or too tight, you must find the perfect balance and you are done.

More freedom

The good thing about hammocks is it gives you more freedom; this is because you can hang it anywhere. Therefore if you need to break away from the group for some quite time, you can pick your hammock find a secluded place and relax.

The choice is yours so pick what you prefer but my advice is to choose hammocks, in my opinion, they are better than tents. You can check here if you want to know more about hammocks.
